The Times of Light & Iron

A phenomenal first album from an up-and-coming artist.

With his first release, "The Times of Light and Iron", JasonAlacrity has produced a masterful album which should gain him much-deserved attention.  Mixing beautiful and plaintive (yet danceable) futurepop and EBM music with slower instrumental pieces, and even an almost IDM-ish track with "Red Country", the album is quite diverse with a cohesive style unique to JasonAlacrity.  I could draw some similarities to artists like Dismantled, Mind.In.A.Box and Urceus Exit, but overall this is a fresh sound.  The vocals are very melodic but hidden behind digitized layers, but are wonderfully done.  The tracks are wonderfully arranged, with great layering of different elements.

This is a great album to listen start to finish as JasonAlacrity takes you on an emotional ride from fast to slow to hard and heavy.  Two bonuses are a great remix of the first track "My Apologies" and a hidden track.  This is highly recommended, not only as an album to purchase now but also an artist to watch in the future.
